FIRST TIME VISITORS

We know walking into a church can be a scary thing. What do you wear? Where do you sit?

If you’ve never attended one of our services, we want to make you feel comfortable and welcome before you even walk through our doors!

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Service Starts at 10 am

Service starts at 10 am, but we begin serving coffee at 9:45 am. We proudly serve High Tide Coffee (a local brewer) - come early and grab a cup, ask a question at our information table, or check in your kids for our Youth & Children’s ministry before finding your seats!

  • Service Lasts About An Hour

Our services last about an hour. You’re welcome to come early and stick around after if you have questions or want to meet some new people!

  • Bring The Kids!

Children of all ages are welcome in service - even if they make noise! However, there is also Nursery care for children ages 0-3, Elementary Sunday School for preschool - 5th grade, and Youth Sunday School for middle - high school students. All students start the morning in service and will then be dismissed to classes.

  • Our services usually follow the same schedule. We have great worship music from our band and choir, so whatever your musical tastes are, you’ll be sure to hear something that moves you. Every week one our kids brings the “Mystery Box” with a surprise item from home, and Pastor Karl creates a children’s sermon on the spot using their surprise choice. We have a time of prayer. We read scripture, and we hear a message from our Pastor, Karl Stuckenberg. There might also be some informal announcements and other occasional moments, musical performances, and celebrations. Everything we do has the intention of creating space for you to experience God’s love and grace.

  • We are a casual So-Cal church by the beach; wear what makes you comfortable! We don’t have a typical dress code and are happy to welcome guests however they are dressed. Some folks wear flip-flops and shorts. Others are a bit more dressy with nice casual clothes. You’ll see people wearing t-shirts and jeans. We have attendees of all ages and we promise you’ll fit right in.

  • Our service really does have music for everyone. Each week you’ll hear a variety of musical styles. Our worship band rocks the house with modern worship songs while our classically trained accompanist brings music that moves the soul. And our chancel choir makes music for those seeking a more traditional church experience. Our blended worship style is on purpose; because we believe there is space for everyone. You never know what surprises await... and on occasion, our pastor even joins in on the drums.

  • You can fill out our online “Get Connected” form to get in touch, ask questions, or get in touch with the pastor. We’d be happy to help make your first time visiting as easy as possible. We also have New Connections lunches every few months where new attenders can find out more about the United Methodist Church and making St. Andrew’s your new church home. Check out our Events Calendar for the next lunch.
