St. Andrew’s by-the-sea of San Clemente announces the opening of the position of Director of Youth Ministries. The Director of Youth Ministries will be responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the Youth Ministries of the church, while serving as a spiritual leader and role model. This is a half time position. This person must have proven success in a previous ministry setting and must enjoy ministry with youth ages 11-19, and their families. JOB TITLE: Director of Youth Ministries

 

TIME:20 hrs/wk (40 hrs/pay period)  
Present on Sunday mornings, for youth programs, regularly scheduled office hours, and weekly staff meetings

 

SALARY: Dependent upon experience.

 

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Youth Ministries (DYM) is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the Youth Ministries of the church, while serving as a spiritual leader and role model.

 

REQUIRED ABILITIES

The DYM shall be committed to Jesus Christ and have a strong desire to share the life of Jesus Christ and the Christian faith with others.  She or he must have proven success in a previous ministry setting and must enjoy ministry with youth ages 11-19, and their families, in the context of the larger church.  United Methodist Church background and/or experience is desirable.

 

The DYM shall possess the administrative skills necessary to perform his or her duties, as well as excellent interpersonal skills for working with youth and families within the congregation and community. Must be inclusive relating to LGBTQ youth. The DYM shall work closely with the Pastor, Director of Programs, staff, and volunteers, valuing open communication and shared ministry.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The DYM has primary responsibility for planning, implementing and coordinating a comprehensive plan for youth ministry.  Additionally, the DYM will develop such other volunteers and committees as necessary to implement an educational effort for program success.  The primary goal of all Christian education is assisting parents and guardians in raising their children in Christian faith.
